Hally Levesque
January 15, 1957 — October 9, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our dearest Hally after her brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Hally was born in Waukegan, Illinois to Janice Engelsjord (née Hall) and grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan. A graduate of Thom Collegiate, Hally went on to work as an Executive Assistant in the President’s office at the University of Regina before retiring in 2012 to pursue her true passion: art and doll making. Unlike many young girls, her love of dolls wasn’t just a phase but rather an early indication of a passion that would follow her throughout her life and later become the inspiration for most of her creative work. Along the way Hally met Louis and after some failed flirtations on his part, she eventually fell for him. They shared some forty-plus years of love and friendship before his passing in April 2023, as well as a daughter Elyse, whom they adored immeasurably.
Hally was an artist who possessed the gift of turning an idea into something tangible. Forever fascinated by the darker, more mystical elements of life, she would draw inspiration from creatures like fairies, mermaids and moths, building complex doll displays out of foraged treasures. Hally could easily spend hours, and sometimes days, tumbling down the rabbit hole of her imagination. It was her happy place.
Aside from art, Hally loved English history and all things medieval. She was an avid reader. She belly danced with a sword on her head, had a penchant for Greek cuisine and loved horror movies, especially the terrible ones. She enjoyed visiting Elyse in Los Angeles and dreamt of returning someday to Wales together, as they had done some twenty years earlier.
It is not hyperbole to say that Hally touched the lives of many during her time here. Not only has her work found homes all over the world and been on display in various art galleries throughout Regina, but her taste, talent and unique sensibilities have left a lasting impression on those who knew her. She will be forever missed and forever remembered for the class act that she was.
Hally is survived by her daughter, Elyse, her brother Dana (Noni), sister Terry Lynn (Terry), nieces Stacey (Curtis) and Marissa (Brett) and nephew Evan (Savannah), as well as her late husband’s sisters, Elaine (Ed), Terry (Darrell), Claudine (Chuck) and their children, Amanda (Cordell), Deanna, Chrystal, Jamie (Chelsea) and Jeff. A special thank you to Jeff for all the ways he helped our family during this difficult time.
Fly like a bird, our beautiful, most beloved, Hally.
