Remembering With Love
Carol Lesko
1948-2024
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Carol Lesko on October 2, 2024 at Oliver Lodge. She was vigilantly accompanied by family during the last days of her earthly journey. Carol is mourned by her husband Rick of 28 years, her four children Kristie Meyer, Roxanne L’Heureux (Brian Lehman), Shawn L’Heureux and Zachary Lesko, her siblings Patrick Fafard (Teresa), Ken Fafard (Lynne), Wanda Fafard (Ken Lauzon), her mother-in-law Elizabeth Lesko (William-deceased), brother-in-law Cliff Lesko (Sandra), sister-in-laws Caron Fafard (Denis-deceased), Linda Fafard (Wayne-deceased), Connie Banadyga (Duane), Karen Klein (Jerry), Gail Gillies (Gord), five grandchildren Desiree, Silas, Lucas, Jesse, and Carol. Also left to mourn is her very close niece Paula Fafard (Mike Will), and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Carol was predeceased by her parents Leo and Clara, her brothers Wayne (Linda), and Denis (Caron) and her nephew Grant Fafard
Carol was born in Assiniboia, SK and spent her childhood residing in various small towns in Saskatchewan. She went to University of Regina and completed her Education degree. Eventually, Carol found her way to Saskatoon and taught in the Catholic School system for 30 years. In her profession, teaching was not just a career, but a vocation. Carol was a master at her craft, and was loved and respected by her students and peers. Carol was an immense influence to all she encountered.
Family and friends were of the utmost importance to Carol, and she focused all her efforts on fostering positive and loving relationships. She had a special gift of being present to all she met- no matter of the age. As a mother, aunt, grandmother, sister and friend, she exemplified the quality of unconditional love. She loved to socialize, engage in dance parties and share her opinions in a feisty and respectful manner. Carol loved people and life.
Unfortunately, in her later years, Carol was stricken by dementia and Alzheimer’s, which compromised her personality and memory. Though she suffered the loss of her faculties, she was still able to reveal snippets of who she truly was- a person of love and joy.
As a family, we are indebted to the nursing and care aid staff at Oliver Lodge for the compassion, love, respect, dignity and excellent care provided to Carol. We are forever grateful. Should you wish to commemorate Carol’s life, in lieu of flowers, you are invited to consider a memorial donation to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan or Oliver Lodge Special Care Home.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Carol will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Parish on Tuesday, October 8th at 10:30 AM
