Obituary of Audrey Myrna Alice Pearson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Audrey Pearson on June 4, 2024 at the age of 80. She was surrounded by the love of her family as her long, hard battle with cancer came to an end.
Loving mother to daughter Caron and son Dana Pearson (Lara Smandych).
Proud Grandma to Ellie and Owen Pearson.
Fondly remembered by her sister Carolynn McPherson (Alec), sister in-law Jean Wilke, stepmother Rena Wilke as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Huldine Wilke, and her brother Ronald Wilke.
Audrey was born in Fillmore Saskatchewan on December 18, 1943. At a young age, the family relocated to the Yellow Grass area, first living on the family farm and then moving into town. Audrey attended Sunnydale school and waitressed at the Sahara Café.
In 1960 after high school graduation, Audrey went on to nursing school at the Regina General Hospital where she became a Registered Nurse. This was the beginning of a 50-year nursing career that took her briefly to Ottawa and then back to Saskatchewan to provide care in numerous communities including Regina, Moosomin, Good Soil, Kindersley, North Battleford and Saskatoon; where she worked in in emergency rooms, on wards and at seniors’ homes.
Audrey liked to travel with the sun being a key ingredient. There were numerous trips to Mexico, Hawaii, Greece, Turkey, and the US. She also worked diligently on needlepoint. Many pieces that took hundreds of hours of detailed work, adorned the wall of her home. She also took great pride in her ability to grow beautiful plants which filled her home. Audrey also had a nak for home remedies. She was always quick with tips and tricks for solving everyday problems using common household products.
Audrey’s grandchildren Ellie and Owen were most important to her. The kids lovingly referred to her as “Grandma A” and loved spending time chit chatting with her as she imparted her wisdom and no-nonsense approach on them about manors, clean nails, shoe tying, and stories about their dad. They loved her special banana cake with cream cheese icing, and homemade chicken soup. Her presence and influence in their young lives will be deeply missed.
Audrey’s family would like to extend their appreciation to all those who were involved in her care. Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan. Online at cancerfoundationsask.ca/ or mailed to Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan #200-4545 Parliament Avenue Regina, SK S4W 0G3.
Cremation has taken place. Audrey’s wishes were for a family memorial to be held at a later date in Yellow Grass, SK.
