Arnold Friedrich Leippi, of Kronau, SK, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 16th, 2023 at the age of 82, with family by his side. Predeceased by parents Gottlieb and Ida Leippi; sister Diane Winter (Leippi). He is survived by wife Ina; sister Hilda Euteneier (Reinhold); brother in-law Ernie Winter; sons Dale (Valerie), Steve (Sandra), Murray (Dawn); grandchildren, Brandon (Bri), their children Piper and Briar, Maria (Allen), Raquel (Justin), Wayne, Matthew (Alexis), Adam, Kristen, Ian, Lindsay and her children Elizabeth, Jacob, Matthew and Hannah.
Arnold was born on March 18th, 1941 in Regina, SK. He lived on a farm south of Kronau until the age 6 when his family moved into town. Arnold and Ina lived in town until they built a new house on the farm in 1988. He worked as a sheet metal worker at various job sites in Saskatchewan; the TD Building, Saskpower Head Office, and the Boundary Dam. He formed his own company Leippi Sheet Metal and farmed all at the same time. Through his company he manufactured land-levelers and tractor cabs and sold grain bins, augers, Crown cultivators and scrapers. Arnold also built the first play structure, diving board and dock for the Oyama Regional Park. In 1970 he switched to farming full-time. Arnold served on the Kronau Hall, Curling Rink and Hamlet Board, Wascana Conservation and Development Board, as well as a Councillor for R.M. #128. Arnold had an important role in getting a water and sewer system installed in Kronau and being an instrumental part in building the Kronau Curling Rink and developing a 30-lot subdivision in Kronau. In the 1980s, Arnold and his son Steve formed Leippi Industries Inc. where they made swather transports, truck service bodies, grain truck boxes and flat deck trailers, as well as sold and erected Goebel grain bins.
Dog lover. Cat lover. Food lover. If there was an animal or food around, Arnold was there. He was passionate about baseball and curling; especially in supporting his sons by coaching or cheering them on in the stands. In 1984 and 1985, he coached the Saskatchewan Jr. Men’s championship teams. Arnold and Ina never passed up the chance to attend Silver Brooms or Briers, one of which was in Berne, Switzerland, from where they toured other various European countries. He also enjoyed following all the local ball teams. Arnold was truly a family man at heart; never missing an opportunity to tell his grandchildren how much he loved them or boasting about how proud he was of each and every one of them to anyone who would listen.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the Kronau Heritage Museum, Box 235, Kronau SK S0G 2T0 or the Kronau Heritage Cemetery, Box 9, Kronau SK S0G 2T0.
