Warren Gottselig Obituary
Warren Peter Gottselig
February 17, 1943 – August 24, 2024
Warren Peter Gottselig, aged 81, passed away peacefully on August 24th, 2024. Those that are left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Elaine May Gottselig, and his two children, Clint Gottselig (Rachel), and Heather Gottselig, his beautiful granddaughters, Cora Gottselig and Grace Gottselig, as well as his beloved sister, Dawn Affleck (Stuart).
Warren was born February 17th, 1943 in Regina, SK. Canada. He attended St. Michaels Elementary School where he was his class valedictorian, and he completed his education at Campion College in 1961. Warren played baseball as a youth, and as a teen, he sang in a band. Warren was also a senior non- commissioned officer with the Regina Rifle Regiment. In 1976, he was promoted to manage the Saskatoon and Regina branches of Russell Food Equipment Limited. He held this title for 43 years, and his outstanding leadership secured Russell as #1 in all of Saskatchewan.
Warren’s favorite place to be was at the beautiful home he designed and had built for himself on Last Mountain Lake. Here, you could find him with the love of his life and “hostess with the” mostess” the beautiful Elaine. Warren and Elaine both loved entertaining family and friends and boating, golfing, fishing and snowmobiling with his best friend, Jon Elkew.. They were well known for hosting numerous sometimes 3-day long parties that included, cocktails, prime rib, and a number of wonderful German songs accompanied by his Dad, Peter’s harmonica playing in the background. These songs were always sung loud and proud because as he and his brother, Greg would say “If you are going to be a bear, be a grizzly!”
Warren worked as equally hard as he partied, and he passionately helped to develop and advance his local community. He was chairman of the board of Colesdale Park for many years where he spearheaded the development of the boat launch. Additionally, he served as president of the Victoria Club for 8 years. In his free time, Warren and Elaine also enjoyed travelling on vacations to both California and Arizona. He truly was a person who did things in the fashion of one of his favorite songs, Frank Sinatra’s “I Did It My Way.” His sense of humor, quick wit, and integrity were the cornerstones of his character. Warren was loved by many, and will be dearly missed by those who have had the privilege to know him and be a part of his life. Blessed be his memory as we know that his beautiful soul is with the angels now and forever.
The family would like to thank Dr. Johnson and Palliative Care at the Regina Pasqua Hospital, as well as all medical staff who ensured he was treated with great dignity and respect while on the end of his earthly journey.
The Funeral Service to honor his life will be held Monday, September 2, 2024 at 11 am in St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan. The service will not be livestreamed.
Donations may be made in lieu of gifts and flowers to the Cancer Society Regina or the Diabetes Foundation.
