She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ernest Blind; Parents: Gaston and Myrtle (nee Matitch) Anaskan; Siblings: Rodrick, Hilda, Clarence and Stanley; Grandson: Kelly Joe Toto.
Bernadette’s memory will be cherished forever by her special Granddaughter: Chasta (Jay); Brother: Vern (special friend Debbie) (Alice); Nieces: Bevann, Kendra (Roy), Leora, Shawna, Birdy. Grandsons: Justin, Kaiden, Colin and Desmond, Granddaughters: Robyn, Monique, Kelly, CeCe, Natalia, Kamrin and Anna; Chapans: Telanne, Samarah, Soraya, Tyneesha, Cavetta, Saige, Rodney Jr: Special Chapans: Sincere, Robbie, Chenoa (Trenton), Nina and Aries, whom took the time to visit her on weekends so she wouldn’t be lonesome.
On July 3, 1965, Bernadette married Ernest and that is when she made her home out on the George Gordon First Nation. Bernadette gained a lot of family and friends from the George Gordon First Nation, as this was her home until she moved to Ituna in 2021.
Bernadette will always be remembered by her famous chocolate, cake, air buns, and delicious bannock and cookies.
Bernadette loved to cook and bake. Bernadette was a hard worker. She dedicated her time to Labret residential school and then moved over to Gordon residential school, where she was employed as a head cook. Cooking for students and teachers. In total she worked 41 years.
Bernadette had enjoyed sewing, knitting, crossword puzzles, and reading and sharing family history.
Bernadette was loved and will be remembered by many.
Special thanks to Ituna Care Home where she was taken great care of and made it her home away from home. Also, special thanks to Patsy, Rena, Leslie and Merlie for all the support and love.
Wake will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 4pm in the Piapot First Nation Community Hall, Piapot, SK. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 17, 2024 in the same location.
