Josephine Nawakayas Obituary
Josephine took her schooling in the Red Earth Elementary School until grade seven and graduated grade12 at the John William Head Memorial Education Centre in 2004 with her sister Delphine Sanderson. Her passions were doing sewing, helping others by washing clothes for them, selling her best Bannock and cooking for weddings and for her family and friends. She loved looking after Shelby Nawakayas and took her has her own daughter.
Josephine loved spending time with her children whenever she had a chance to visit them. During her time alone she did word puzzles. She mostly loved making traditional food such as preparing ducks, moose meat, deer meat, beaver and muskrats whenever her husband brought home for their sustenance. She enjoyed family camp with relatives and friends. Her cousin Louisa would check on her regularly because they had a special bond of sisterhood.
She leaves to treasurer her memories: her loving husband Alphonse Nawakayas; her sons; Arthur (Denise)Mckay, Ernie Mckay, Sterling Nawakayas, her daughter Arlena Nawakayas; her adopted children Netanis Flett, Neeson, Kelly, Kelina Nawakayas; her 16 grandchildren; her sisters, Jean Daniels, Delphine(Anthony) Sanderson; her brother Shem (Velma) Mckay; her uncles and aunties Robert Nawakayas, Kathleen Mclean, Arlene Moostoos; mother and father in law; Patrick (Caroline) Young; her cousins; Lorie (Lydia) Mckay, Morris (Priscilla), Gary (Laura), Neil Mckay, Cecilia (Bernard) Umpherville, Eugene and Maxine Mckay; her sister and brother in laws Angela (Darren) Bighead, Sherrine Umpherville, Brenna Whitehead, Clara (Karry) Nawakayas, Verna Sanderson, Osler Whitehead, Dean (Colleen) Nawakayas, Dexter (Donna) Nawakayas, Hilda (Elvis) Mckay, Don Nawakayas; special daughter Shelby Nawakayas; special parents Willis and Lois Mckay.
