Alex Lalkowski Obituary
Alex was born October 8, 1932, at Carrot River Union Hospital. Alex was the third child born to Walter and Feliksa Lalkowski.
Alex grew up on the family farm located in the Petaigan district. He attended both Woodchuk and Causeway schools during his formative years.
Growing up in a rural area, one form of entertainment were the local school dances which he thoroughly enjoyed as he loved to dance.
During a winter, in the mid 1950’s, Alex got a job at The Pas Lumber Camp as cooky in the kitchen bunkhouse.
Living on the farm, helping his dad farm the land became his passion and eventually to buying land of his own.
On November 28, 1964, Alex married Marilynn Stagman. They built a house on the home quarter, the same yard as his parents.
Alex served as councillor for Division 5, RM Moose Range for 13 years from January 1979 – December 1992. Alex also served on various committees including the Ambulance and Hospital Board.
In June 2008, Alex was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. He kept farming for another 10 years, hiring Greg and Rick Morris to seed the crop in spring and then he and Trent did the harvest in the fall.
In May of 2018, with Alex’s Parkinson’s progressing, he was admitted to the Carrot River Nursing Home where he lived till his passing.
Alex was predeceased by his father Walter in 1985, his mother Feliksa in 2001, his sister Mary in 2022, brothers-in-law Myron Pihowich, Stan Dzik, Anton Youzwa, Bud Black, Peter Hrbachek; sisters-in-law Pauline Lalkowski, Myrna Stagman; in-laws Herman and Lila Stagman, niece Elaine Huculak and nephew Jesse Dzik.
Left to treasure his memory are his wife Marilynn of 59 years, daughter Lynnette and son-in-law Brent Lavery, granddaughter Lexie Lavery and grandson Evan Lavery and son, Trent; brother Frank (Lorraine), sister Jean Youzwa, brother and sisters-in-law Lyle Stagman, Vyna Black, Margaret Hrbachek and numerous nieces and nephews.
