Obituary
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Marianne Olga Fogg (Pozniak) announce her passing at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on January 25, 2024, at the age of 58 years.
Marianne was born on July 9, 1965, in Invermay, SK, to Peter and Olga (Demyd) Pozniak. She grew up on the Pozniak homestead north of Rama in the Dobrowody area, where her mother Olga still resides today. Marianne attended Rama School and graduated in 1983.
In high school, she met her sweetheart and life partner, Reginald Fogg. Marianne and Reg were married in 1984 and were blessed with six children: Brendan, Craig, Aaron, Paige, Ethan and Kyra. She was also a proud “Nana” to her 5 grandchildren: Stella, Mason, Vianna, Hailee, and Issac.
In 1984, Marianne, already a young mother to Brendan, enrolled and was accepted to the Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon where she completed her Diploma in Nursing in 1986. During those 2 years, she drove home from Saskatoon every weekend to be with her “boys”.
Her career began at the Wadena Hospital but after a short time, Invermay became home for Marianne and Reg and her career was then spent as a Registered Nurse at the Invermay Health Centre. She worked part-time to full-time and picked up extra shifts whenever she could.
Marianne worked tirelessly on her acreage just outside the town of Invermay, whether it be renovating her house or adding something new to her flower beds. She became quite the DIY’er and took up drywalling and carpentry as the need arose.
Marianne thrived as a Registered Nurse, caring for patients and their families for nearly 30 years. During that time, Marianne herself became a patient in the health care system when she was diagnosed with a brain lymphoma in February of 2009. She fought an epic battle, determined to return to her life as a mother, wife, and caregiver to others. Her stubbornness paid off and she returned to each of those roles and continued as an RN until 2018.
Unfortunately, after 5 years of failing health, Marianne was diagnosed with the same brain lymphoma in December of 2023 & she lived for only six and a half short weeks.
Marianne lost her high school sweetheart, husband, and best friend, Reg, in September of 2021. She often spoke of how much she missed him and how empty and without meaning her life was with his absence. At the time of Reg’s passing, they had been married for 37 years.
Marianne embodied kindness and humility, leading a simple life without putting on airs or a desire for luxury. Her strong work ethic defined her, as she diligently pursued everything she wanted and possessed.
Our hearts are broken but we take solace in knowing that she is no longer suffering and has been reunited with Reg. May her memory be eternal, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Marianne was predeceased by her husband, Reg; father, Peter Pozniak; in-laws, George and Isabelle Fogg; and brothers-in-law, Wayne Derkatch and John Morrison.
She is survived by her mother, Olga Pozniak; children and grandchildren, Brendan (Natashia), Craig (Megan, Stella, Mason), Aaron (Vianna, Hailee), Paige (Ryan), Ethan (Hailey, Issac), and Kyra (Matthew); brothers and sisters: Sandra Pozniak, Allan (Rose) Pozniak, Gerald (Deb) Pozniak, Karen Pozniak, Margaret (Mark) Kochems, Shirley Richardson, and Ivan (Monica) Pozniak; in-laws: Don (Jan) Fogg, Ron (Sharon) Fogg, Jeff (Yvonne) Fogg, and Gerard (Stacey) Fogg; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she held dear.
A Public Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK. A Private Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from St. Vladymyr & Olga Ukrainian Catholic Church, Invermay, SK, with Rev. Fr. Ivan Simko officiating. Private Committal to follow in the Invermay Community Cemetery, Invermay, SK. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Marianne Fogg.
