Obituary
With heavy hearts, the family of the late Audrey Matsalla announce her passing at the Preeceville and District Health Centre – Long Term Care Unit on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the age of 83 years.
Audrey was born March 21, 1941, to George and Dora (nee Chobotar) Wasylowich. She attended Drobot School. She met Albert Matsalla and after dating a while, they were married on August 13, 1957.
Together, they moved to the family farm, where Audrey worked next to Albert, along with her additional responsibilities which include gardening, tending to her flower patch, and of course raising her five children. After a few years passed, they moved to Buchanan, SK, where Audrey enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, visiting neighbors, baking, and sewing.
Audrey married Don Kinneard on December 16, 2012, in Canora, SK. They lived happily together in Buchanan, SK, until Audrey’s health began to decline, and she moved to become a resident of the Preeceville Long Term Care Centre, where she passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Geroge and Dora Wasylowich; husband, Albert Matsalla; and sister, Mary Essar.
She is survived by her daughters, Gloria (Julius) Dziaduck of Buchanan, SK, and Lavinia (Dale) Wolkowski of Oxbow, SK; sons, Ken (Donna) Matsalla of Whitewood, SK, Randy (Jean) Matsalla of Melfort, SK, and Greg (Cindy) Matsalla of Clavet, SK; 15 grandkids and 16 great grandkids; husband, Donald Kinneard of Buchanan, SK; and her brothers, Steve (Julie) Wasylowich of Saskatoon, SK, and John (Robin) Wasylowich of Grandora, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Audrey’s Life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 4, 2024, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home with Dave Atamanchuk officiating. Interment will follow in the Buchanan Community Cemetery, Buchanan, SK. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to a Charity of Donor’s Choice, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Audrey Matsalla.
