Randy Joseph Kaientakeron Horne, known as Spudwrench during his time defending Kanien’keha:ka territory, sadly passed away on March 31st, 2024, surrounded by his family, just days after his 74th birthday. Randy was a warrior, standing-up for the Nation during the heated summer of 1990 in Kanehsatake. He loved his people, and he loved his family.
He was a hardworking iron worker for many years, travelling with his family throughout the States. One of his proudest achievements being that he worked on the Twin Towers in NYC. In retirement, his hardworking nature never ceased, always willing to help family and friends with their projects. An avid sports fan, he loved the Bruins, rarely missing a game. There was always golf, football, or hockey on the TV.
On May 31st, 1969 Randy married the love of his life, Stephany, and through their 54 years of marriage, raised a family that would include their children: Dean (Vicky), Rhonda (Ryan), and Kawennanoron (Teddy); grandchildren: Karahkwisakhe (Josh), Kawisaienhne (Tye), Nikki (Ohnawanoron), Randy (Kayra) and Aiananoron; great-grandchildren, Oshontawi, Wahiakwas, Ierihwatshenrie’s, Tehona’kara:a, Wa’erahkhwatshenri, and Oakland.
Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Josephine Horne, he is survived by his siblings: Donny (Late Norma), Arlene (Late Gary), and Steve (Susie), as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends from April 4th, 2024 at 12pm, at the Longhouse on 207. The funeral service will be held on Saturday April 6th at 2pm.
Randy’s wit, caring nature, and sense of humor will be greatly missed. His was a life well lived, and a legacy that will continue to inspire.
