It is with a great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, daughter, and devoted wife, Helen (Eleni) Veikos born Kalogiros.
Helen left this world on November 13, 2023, just 2 days before the celebration of her 53rd birthday.
Her internal fire was a guiding light that burned short but hot. That fire forged the strength, wisdom, and courage that made her the exceptional teacher, mentor, and mother that she was.
Helen’s beauty, smile, and effortless charisma filled any room, and her presence commanded the attention of all those around her. Her passion for life and her drive to experience all it had to offer was an inspiration for those that knew her best.
Her innate desire to travel and to be outdoors brought her to some of the most exotic places in the world. She befriended anyone she met with kindness, compassion, and empathy. Helen created cherished friendships everywhere she went, a true testament to her lasting character.
She had a passion for the arts as well as the written word. Helen immersed herself in classical music, the opera, and literature. She also wrote and created art herself. But Helen’s biggest love, greatest accomplishment, and proudest role was, and will always be, mother to her son Rio.
Without Helen’s light, the world has dimmed, changing it forever. Helen will be eternally missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Helen leaves behind her loving husband of 19 years, Foti Veikos; her son Rio Gregory Veikos; her mother Bessie Kalogiros; her brothers, Peter Kalogiros and Bill Kalogiros, her in-laws Gregory and Evdokia and many friends.
She will be greatly missed.
