Ruth Silver (Née Dubow)
Peacefully, in her home, on Saturday, January 27, 2024, surrounded by her family and loving caregivers. Born in Newfoundland in 1932, her parents Bernard and Dora (née Land) Dubow moved their five children to Montreal to raise them in the tight-knit Jewish community. Ruth, the eldest sibling, attended McGill University and obtained her MSW, later working in Toronto in geriatric psychiatry at Sunnybrook. Family meant the world to Ruth, including her much loved siblings Harry, Shirley (z”l), Anita and Lawrence, and she maintained close bonds with relatives near and far. She adored her loving late husband, Danny. Devoted to each other until the end, they warmly opened their home to family, friends and anyone who needed a place to go on Shabbat and Jewish holidays. She will be greatly missed by her three children, Carolyn, Mark (Orah), and Abby (Shachar) and her adoring grandchildren, Hannah and Isabel, Zoe and Keshet, and Dana, Shira, and Ezra, to whom she was a proud and dedicated ‘Bube’. Ruth received impeccable care from Diane, Krystyna, Immy and Jihan, whom we cannot thank enough. Funeral will be held Sunday, January 28th at 2 pm at Benjamin’s Park Memorial Chapel (2401 Steeles Ave W, North York, ON M3J 2P1). Shiva following internment at 3 Ridgewood Road until 9 pm, and visits continuing at 7-9 pm daily through Tuesday, January 30th. Donations in her memory may be made to Canadian Magen David Adom for Israel, for whom Ruth tirelessly campaigned (www.cmdai.org/en/content/10-donate-now), and Temmy Latner (secure.supportsinai.ca/site/Donation2?df_id=2305&mfc_pref=T&.
