It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irena Solarz Bisok on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at the age of 95.
Irena was born in Krakow, Poland on February 24, 1929 and came to Canada in the mid 1960s, where she fell in love with Montreal and made it her home. Irena was a wonderful cook, devoted wife, mother and Babcia, avid mushroom hunter, shrewd card player and enjoyer of the countryside. Her life was defined by her generosity, tenacity, resilience and faith.
She was the beloved wife of the late Karol Bisok, sister of the late Lidia Kuzma and the late brother Zdzislaw Solarz, mother of the late Jadwiga Tomaszewski and grandmother of the late Tatiana and Alex.
She will be greatly missed by her beloved daughter Marta (Amro), her grandchildren Dahlal (Devon), Stephanie (Jason) and Basil (Iulia), her great-grandchildren Lara, Sanaya, Marius, Lucas and Rawi, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Magnus Poirier Laval, 222 Boulevard des Laurentides, on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 2 pm to 7:30 pm. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm.
The burial will follow on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Notre-Dame des Neiges Cemetery in Montreal at 11 am (departure from the funeral home at 10 am).
Donations may be made in memory of Irena to Covenant House Toronto.
