The family is sad to announce the passing of a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In her 96th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Ambrose. Much beloved mother of Nancy (David Duguid) and the late Derek (Heidi Oliver). Treasured Nanny to Jordan (Dylan), Jade (Cory), Liam (Brittany) and Ambrose. Great Nan to Peyton. Aidan, Ryker and Brynlee. She will be greatly missed by her sister Margaret (David), numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and throngs of friends. She was predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth and Gertrude and her brothers Robert and Nelson
Nelda lived her life with gusto. She adored her large and always nearby family and her many friends. She will always be remembered for her endless kindness, her hospitality, her generosity, her quick humour, her sense of adventure and her stories of Newfoundland. She will be sadly missed by her church family at Church of The Epiphany and her many friends at Manoir Pierrefonds.
A service to celebrate a long and well lived life will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 2:00 pm., Church of The Epiphany, 4322 Wellington Street, Verdun, corner of Gordon Ave., followed by a reception to meet with the family. Nelda loved to wear her pearls and she always wore a brooch. Everyone is invited to wear their pearls and brooches in her memory.
In lieu of floral tributes, donations to MAB – Mackay – The Low Vision Clinic – 7000 Sherbrooke Street West, H4B 1R3 – would be much appreciated.
Please note: Parking is available on Wellington Street – on the side streets Gordon Ave, and Rielle St., as well there is a small parking lot just above Wellington on Gordon and a municipal parking garage on Wellington at Ethel St. (a short walk away). Please come early as the parking fills up quickly.
