George Gilbert Meranger, a beloved husband, stepfather, son, brother, and friend to many, passed away on February 14th, 2024, in Gatineau, QC. He was born on June 21st, 1957, in Ottawa, ON to his loving parents Gerry and Denise (deceased). George will be deeply missed by his devoted spouse Debbie and his cherished stepsons Ryan and Benjamin (Emily), siblings Lorraine (Jeff), Diane (Mick), Michael (Betty), Gerry (Lesley), Kathy (Vince), Adele, Mark (Tina) and stepdad Mike. His memory will also be carried by numerous nieces and nephews, great and grand.
George was truly one of a kind, he wore his heart on his sleeve. His greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved most. He had an extraordinary capacity for love that touched everyone around him. George’s kindness knew no bounds, it radiated through every interaction he had with others.
He had such love for wildlife, nature, animals and especially for his furry friend Marley. Fishing, golfing and cheering for his beloved Montreal Canadiens and Philadelphia Eagles were his passion.
Music was another passion close to George’s heart. Bruce Springsteen’s melodies resonated deeply within him. And who could forget how he never missed an episode of Jeopardy! His unique character and sense of humour brought laughter and sometimes shock to all that knew him.
A Celebration of George’s Life for family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 9th at The British Hotel, Restaurant & Pub located at 71 Principale St., Gatineau QC J9H 3L6 from 1:00pm-5:00pm where stories can be shared about this awesome man who has left us too soon.
