Mary Todoruk (Née Yarema)
1937-2024
On August 4th, 2024, Todoruk, Mary, (nee Yarema), died peacefully at 86.
Mary grew up in the Point surrounded by the local Ukrainian community. Her career in Telecommunications at CN/CP, CAST, and various political party offices brought her face to face with dignitaries, Prime Ministers, Presidents, and Royalty.
Mary met her true love and husband, Walter, in Manitoba. Together with their daughters, Christine and Frances, a new era in life commenced. The love of country life, involvement in various community groups, along with assisting family and friends over the years, became her passion.
Predeceased by her husband, Walter, parents, Tekla and John Yarema, and her sister Anne Semenak.
She will be missed by her daughters, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, Michael (Judah, Devin, Dylan), Joanne (Rick), Stephen (Carol, Thomas, Matthew) Semenak; Stephanie, Natalie, and Stephen (Todoruk); and others. Godmother to Michael Semenak and Philip Nepszy.
We are humbled by the care and attentiveness from her family and friends who kept vigil, provided support, distractions, and thoughtfulness.
We thank both CVPH stroke ward and St. Mary’s Hospital doctors, nurses and staff who provided stellar care and kindness.
Also, to Father Ihor Oshchipok, for his blessings and spiritual guidance.
Visitation on Monday August 12th; 2-4 and 7-9 at Yves Legare Funeral Complexes, 7200 Newman, LaSalle
Funeral on Tuesday August 13th, 11:00, at St. John Brebeuf church, 7777 George, LaSalle , followed by burial at Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery.
Donations can be made in her memory to St. Mary’s Hospital, CVPH in Plattsburgh, Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, or charity of your choice.
