Maria Bory
1931-2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Bory, on
November 24, 2023, at the age of 91.
Beloved mother of James (Janet), Sophia (Frederic) and Eva (Terry).
Cherished and devoted grandmother to Jacqueline, Stephanie, Brianna and
Alexandra. Reunited with her spouse Istvan Szucs in Heaven. She will also
be deeply missed by her many relatives and friends.
She will always be remembered for her passion of painting art, traveling, her
smile and her strength.
At their cottage in Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard, her hidden art talent emerged
when she first started to paint on furniture, then transitioned to painting on
canvas. Later in life, her art flourished when she experimented painting
more complex subjects and moved to oil painting. Her art work now hangs
proudly in family homes, and it’s through these beautiful creations that her
presence can always be felt and remembered.
She taught us how to have the strength and the will to achieve whatever we
wanted in life. By sharing her experiences and challenges of her life in
Hungary and her emigration to Canada, her stories and history taught us
how to be strong and to have the determination to pursue our dreams.
Her struggles in early life resulted in her cherishing and loving her family,
and always being there for them. These struggles, later in life, created a
resolve to always keep moving, to always look forward, and to aspire to see
new things and places. She shared her travel experiences and memories, to
show people there is always something to see beyond our doorsteps.
The family will receive condolences on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from
11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Complexe Yves Légaré Pierrefonds.
A prayer service will be held the same day at 12:30 pm.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Nurses and Care Givers
at the CHSLD Vigi Dollard des Ormeaux for their wonderful support and care.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in her
memory.
