Anthony Robinson
1939-2024
TONY, 85, lived an amazingly full and happy life until 6 weeks ago when throat cancer unexpectedly took away his joys of dinner out with his wife, a round of golf, a relaxing finger of scotch, and finally, his last breath surrounded by his heartbroken wife and sons.
Born in Wolverhampton, England, he moved to Manchester where he lived with his mom, Gladys, stepdad, Walter, and sister Sabina, while apprenticing in Mechanical Engineering, playing for Man U Reserves, and meeting the love of his life, Muriel Camp, at a Palais dance.
“Mo and To” courted for 4 years, married, and purchased their first car and house, and proudly welcomed their firstborn son, Anthony. In 1967, Tony’s ambition spurred them on to Montreal for a 30 year career with Dominion Textile including exotic world travel as a much sought-after environmental consultant for Intech-PEM through CIDA. In 1998 he boldly started his own company, Fintex Mechanical and Process, impressively remaining President and completing the occasional project to his very last days.
They moved to Roxboro from NDG when Curtis, favoured son #2, completed their family, and later to their current house in Pierrefonds. In Tony’s down time, his love of sports took over, supporting Man U (fire that manager!), Expos, Impact (not CFM!), and Als; coaching his sons; and playing golf, soccer, lawn bowling, and darts. He is also a longtime member of the Pierrefonds-Roxboro Legion #234 and the Lawn Bowling Club.
Tony is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Muriel (nee Camp). He will be incredibly missed by his sons Anthony (Tony) and Curtis; his daughters-in-law, Deirdre and Tina; his sister, Sabina and nieces, Elizabeth and Rachel; and the innumerable friends, family and co-workers whose lives he graced. Tony’s powerful life example and legacy will live on through his grandchildren Jonah, Griffin, Matthew, Thomas, and Aidan. And he will be welcomed in Heaven by his granddaughter, Meah.
Tony will be mourned privately with immediate family, however, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. And please join us in raising a glass of scotch in honour of our truly wonderful Tony.
