Louise Leeson Obituary
Louise Elizabeth Leeson (nee Schmitchen), a beacon of warmth and family devotion, passed away peacefully at her home in Woodstock, on May 31, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on September 27, 1938, in Wallaceburg, Louise’s life was a testament to the power of a kind heart and an ever-present smile.
Louise’s journey began as a daughter to her loving parents in Wallaceburg, where she grew up surrounded by the affection of her brothers. She carried this foundation of family love throughout her life, creating a home filled with laughter and care. Louise was the beloved wife of the late Wallace “Wally” Leeson, who predeceased her in 1993, and together they raised a family that became her pride and joy.
A dedicated mother, Louise is survived by her children: Rob and his wife Darlene, Walter, Joel and his wife Deb, Murray and his wife Cyndi, Mary Louise Nadeau and her husband Rick, and Vern and his wife Cindy. Each of her children will carry forward her legacy of love and strength. Louise was immensely proud of her grandchildren – Kelly-Ann, David, Justin, Tiffany, Diana, Darlene, Amanda, Katie, Kyle, Jeffrey, Cameron, Felicia, Lokadia and her many great grand children and great great grandchildren . Louise’s role as a grandmother, great-grandmother and great great grandmother was one she cherished deeply.
Louise’s brother, Bob Schmitchen and his wife Angela, will remember her fondly. She is predeceased by brothers, Ed and his wife Mary, and John and his wife Irene.
Professionally, Louise was a long-time employee at Walmart, where she concluded her career as a well-known greeter. Her great smile became a hallmark of the shopping experience for countless customers. Louise’s genuine kindness made her a beloved figure not only among shoppers but also among her colleagues.
Beyond her work, Louise was a woman of simple pleasures and down-to-earth values. She found joy in the everyday moments and nurtured a home that was a haven of comfort and support. Her love for her family was the centerpiece of her life, and she took immense pleasure in the achievements and happiness of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Louise’s interests were a reflection of her character—uncomplicated yet profound. She understood that the most precious things in life are often the ones that are right in front of us: a shared meal, a heartfelt conversation, and the laughter of loved ones.
Friends will be received for visitation on Wednesday, June 5 from 11am-1pm. Funeral Service will take place at 1pm in the funeral home chapel, with interment immediately following at Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network, a charity close to Louise’s heart.
