VELDA, Jacob “Jake” Hendriks – Passed away at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Woodstock on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at the age of 89.
Born September 9, 1934 in Kollumerswaag, Friesland, The Netherlands to Hendrick and Hendrikje (nee DeVries) Velda. Beloved husband of Sharon Lynn Velda (nee Adair) whom he married on February 17, 1962 at Central United Church in Woodstock. Loving father of Lori (Chris) Sharples, Sandy (Mike) Velda/MacLennan, John (Maria) Velda and Brenda (Trevor) Priestap. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Melissa, Christopher, Devon, Brandon, Tess, Josee, Mitchel and great grandchildren Caitlyn, Chelsea and William. Jake was the brother of late Berend Hendriks Velda (Renske Meine Boetes), late Gelske Hendriks Velda (Marten Alberts Haijema), late Grietje Hendriks Velda (Pieter Schafsma), late Tjimkje (Pim) Hendriks Velda (Jacob (Jaap) Haan, Sjoerd Hendriks Velda and Sjoerdj Hendriks Velda (Rindert Obeles Procee). Also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
