Barbara Rose Doy, a cherished matriarch, and long-standing pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024, at the age of 93 in Woodstock, Ontario. Born on December 21, 1930, in Ingersoll, Ontario,
Barbara’s journey began as the beloved daughter of the late Edmund and Gertrude Bennett. Her marriage to the late Leonard Doy for over 55 years was a testament to enduring love, and together they raised a family that would be her pride and joy. Though she faced the heartache of saying goodbye to her husband, her daughter Barbie, and her brothers Lewis, Clifford, and Bill Bennett, Barbara’s strength and grace never wavered.
She leaves behind a legacy through her children: Michael (Tweet) Doy, Jackie (Bill) Thompson, and Rob Doy (Andrea). Her spirit will live on in the laughter and stories of her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who will continue to cherish the memories they created together.
Barbara’s commitment to her community was unwavering, as evidenced by her over 55 years of membership at St. David’s United Church. Her involvement there was not just a reflection of her faith but also of her belief in the power of community and fellowship. She was a beacon of light within the church walls, offering support, wisdom, and an open heart to all.
Visitation will take place on Thursday May 16, 2024 from 2-4 pm at Brock and Visser Funeral (845 Devonshire Ave 519-539-0004). A Funeral Service will take place on Friday May 17, 2024 at 11 am held at St. David’s United Church (190 Springbank Ave.) Interment will take place at Hillview Cemetery.
