Obituary of Rita Victoria Smyth
Rita was born and raised in Welland, Ontario where her parents owned and operated Fonfara Bakery.
In 1952 Rita graduated from Hotel Dieu nursing school in Windsor, Ontario and she enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a nurse.
Rita is predeceased by two husbands, Stanley Andrews and John Smyth.
Rita is a loving mother and grandmother and is survived by her son Brian, daughter Diane (Pat), grandchildren Jaclyn (Lee), Michelle, Brendan, and Ryan and by her great-grandchildren Ava, Emma, Alex, Scarlett, April, and Hudson. She is also survived by her sister Frances as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rita enjoyed travelling and especially enjoyed camping and skiing. She also enjoyed square dancing and quilting and helped out for many years with Habitat for Humanity. She was a long-time and active member of Most Precious Blood Church.
Rita will always be remembered for her loving and giving spirit. Her family will forever cherish their many fond memories of her.
A special thank you to the staff at Tecumseh Extendicare whose compassion and tender care helped Rita through her last few years.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Rita’s life will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – Central Chapel (1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. 519-253-7234)
