It is with profound sadness and heartbreak that we announce the very peaceful passing of our dear Mother and Nonna at the age of 82 years, surrounded by her loving family. Maria was predeceased by the love of her life Giuseppe (2008). She is survived and adored by her four children, Biagio (Bill) & Rita Marra; Espedito (Dino) & Suzanne Marra; Gemma & David Badalamenti; and Marisa & Daniel Chibani Very proud and loving Nonna to Joe-Anthony & Monica; Bianca and Tarek; Dante; Austin & Caitlin; Isabella; Maria; Vincent; Joseph; & Emily.
Maria was born in San Giovanni in Fiore, Cosenza, Calabria. She was one of six children born to the late Espedito Pisani and Rosaria Albano. Her siblings include Gabriele Pisani and the late Laura; the late Giuseppe survived by his wife Rosina Pisani; Rafaella and Tony Casali; Aurelia and the late Renzo Albertini; and Fioravanti Pisani and the late Antonella. Dearest sister in-law of the late Francesco and Maria Marra; the late Salvatore survived by his wife Lilliana Marra; the late Egidio & Caterina Barratin; the late Giovanni Basile survived by his wife Giovanna; the late Vincenzo & Angelina Cimino; and the late Domenico & Rosina Bello. She’s also survived by many nephews and nieces in Canada, the United States, Italy, Switzerland, and France.
Our mother’s family immigrated to Switzerland in 1962. She married Giuseppe in 1964 and they immigrated to Canada in 1968 where they settled in Windsor and raised their family. The early years were very challenging, however with dedication, perseverance and hard work Giuseppe and Maria created a thriving environment for a loving family and a beautiful quality of life for everyone. Their legacy is their children and grandchildren.
One of Maria’s most fulfilling experiences outside of her family was that of a Crossing Guard at the intersection of Parent Avenue and Ellis Street. She absolutely adored all of the wonderful students from St. Angela Elementary School. She treasured those memories well into her retirement years.
Maria struggled for many years with the diagnosis of Parkinson’s from the age of 60. The last few years proved to be incredibly challenging. Prior to recent struggles, she so very much treasured the friendships and companionship of her many friends, the “neighbourhood ladies”, as they enjoyed the Italian Soap Operas, Italian music and variety shows, playing cards and sharing amongst themselves favourite baking delights. She treasured her Albano Family cousins and always looked forward to their visits and phone calls. She was so grateful for the very two first friends she met in Windsor, Giuliana Chiarotti and Feliciana DiBiase. We are eternally grateful for their unwavering love of our mother spanning over 56 years. Our mother was so grateful for the many visits by Giuliana, Tina (and family) and Feliciana (and family) at her home, during all of her hospital stays, at Oak Park Terrace and at the Village of Aspen Lake. We thank-you from the bottom of our hearts!
The Marra family would like to extend their gratitude to her most recent healthcare providers at Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus (5E), at Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare (RH1), at Chartwell Oak Park Terrace, and the home where she spent her final weeks, with the amazing and dedicated staff at Village of Aspen Lake.

Visitation Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 4:30 p.m. at Families First, South Windsor, 3260 Dougall Ave. (519-969-5841).
On Friday, December 6, 2024, friends are invited to join the family after 8:00 a.m. at Families First, and will leave in procession at 8:45 a.m. to St. Angela Merici Church, 980 Louis Ave. for a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m.
Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
