It is with broken hearts that we announce her passing on January 3, 2024 in her 93rd year. Born in Manciano, Tuscany, Italy, she was the first registered citizen of the city on January 10, 1931. She grew up in Vatican City, Rome.
She left her beloved Rome in 1957 when she was 26 to marry the love of her life. She leaves behind her husband of 66 years, Vincent Curti. Proud mom of AnnaRita (Vito), Licinio (Philomena), Romano (Amy), and Joann (Chris). Cherished Nonna of Alessia, Luca, Olivia, Amanda, Andrew, Zoe, Xavier and Christos. Bis-Nonna of Joseph Jr. and Jack. Dear sister of Gildo Perfetti (Francesca). Special aunt of Dave, Timothy, the late Tom, Rob and Judy from Western Canada and Alessia and Laura Perfetti from Italy. She will also be missed by many cousins and friends in both Canada and Italy.
Those who knew Mancisa knew she was a force to be reckoned with. She was a passionate storyteller who could captivate any room with all the intricate details. Her presence was felt by everyone in the room. She was a very talented artist and an Italian teacher for the Windsor Separate School Board for over 30 years. She was an excellent cook, a great seamstress and she loved her garden. Mancisa was a spiritual person as well as a devout Catholic. She took great pride in reading at the Italian mass every Saturday evening at St Angela Merici Church in her beautiful Italian (lingua Toscana in bocca romana) which was perfection. The things she loved most were her children, grandchildren, cooking, and talking on the phone with all of her friends in Windsor, Italy and around the world.
A special Thank you to Kayla Veltri, Dr. Patric Smith, Medica Pharmacy (Francesco), and Father Christian Amogu for all your help and prayers during Mom’s life. She was truly a treasure that we will miss dearly.
Donations in memory of Mancisa may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to St. Vincent de Paul.
Visitation will take place at Families First Funeral Home in South Windsor (3260 Dougall Ave. 519-969-5841) on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9 pm. Visiting will continue on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the funeral home from 9:30 am until we leave in procession at 10 am for the funeral mass at St. Angela Merici Church at 11: 00 am.
