It is with deep sadness that we announce Linda Coon-Berthiaume passed away suddenly on October 31, 2024, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 69 years old.
Linda was born in Windsor and raised in Es County, living in both Kingsville and Windsor. She was the daughter of the late Dorine and Ken Coon. She was a loving sister to Judy, Kevin (Lynne), Michael, Kelly, Carolyn (Abe), Ken, and the late Douglas (Val) Coon. Linda attended FJ Brennan and graduated from nursing at St Clair College.
She married James (Jim) Berthiaume in 1979, and they lived together in Windsor. Linda is survived by her two children: Rae-Anne (Yann) of Waterloo and De-Anna (Greg) of Tecumseh. She was a proud grandmother to Annika, Roger, Jared, Maxwell, and Annie.
She will also be missed by her extended Berthiaume family and great friends. Throughout her 37-year career as a nurse, Linda put others first and poured her heart and soul into her work. She cared for those at Windsor Riverview, HDGH Tayfour Campus, and was active in the CUPE union. Linda cared for all and was loved by many.
Linda found great joy in baking and hosting for all occasions. Her specialty was wedding cakes, and she offered her time and creativity to any family member or friend who asked. Linda also enjoyed gardening, decorating her home, biking on the tandem with Jim, shopping for the next great deal, and spending weekends along Lake Erie with family and friends.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at Families First Funeral Home (1065 Lauzon Rd., Windsor) on November 8, 2024, starting at 11 am with prayers commencing at 1:30pm.
Online condolences and donations to the Alzheimer’s Society are welcomed.
