“The measure of a well-lived life is how well we love and how well we are loved in return”
Kenneth James Donaldson lived well from the day he was born on April 9th, 1950 until he left this earth on November 18, 2024.
He was the only son of and predeceased by his parents , Robert “Bob” and Kathleen “Kay” Donaldson (nee Mullin). Ken was a devoted younger brother and loving caregiver to Rosemary.
At the age of nineteen Ken met the love of his life, Kathie (Boismier) and on July 15, 1972 they exchanged wedding vows to begin a fifty-two year journey as husband and wife. On that day Ken also became the first son-in-law to George and Priscilla Boismier (deceased) and a bonus brother to Kathie’s eight siblings.
On January 25, 1975 Ken entered fatherhood with the arrival of Korey David (deceased) and on December 1, 1978, Karla Faith became daddy’s little girl who together with her husband, Jon Rupert, would eventually bless him with three adoring grandchildren; Jorey James, Rorry Andrew and Kaylyn Lily-Rose.
Ken will be lovingly remembered and profoundly missed by all of the surviving Boismier siblings; Michael, Maxine Beaulieu (Phil), Stephen (Kathy), Paul (David), Sheri Shaw (Bev) and George. He was predeceased by brother-in-laws Christopher Boismier & Paul Bowins (Sheri) and sister-in-law Beverly Boismier-Teems (Ron).
A multitude of nieces and nephews and their children will always hold their memories of Uncle Ken as a man who loved his family well with generosity, kindness, an ever open door and a great sense of humour.
“Time doesn’t take away from friendship nor does separation” is a phrase that will be held dear by an endless number of friends Ken had gathered all through his life as they mourn the loss of this big-hearted man.
Ken was a proud member of the CUPW and served as a mail carrier for thirty-three years until his retirement in 2005. Prior to retiring from Canada Post, Ken began a second career and tirelessly worked a second job at the Windsor Raceway for many years until its closing in 2012.
Throughout his life and into his retirement Ken was most often found in his well-equipped workshop designing, building or repairing projects for family and friends. He was a gifted wood worker with fine attention to detail. There was no job too small (and if it could fit through the workshop door it wasn’t too big either). His door was always open and he was always ready to lend a helping hand, share his knowledge or dig into the far reaches of his “stash” to find the perfect piece of wood, a knob, a cord or fastener for any project.
After a valiant battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, Ken passed peacefully at Windsor Regional Hospital Met Campus surrounded by loving family and friends under the attentive care of the I.C.U. team of doctors and nursing staff. His loving wife, Kathie, wishes to express her gratitude to his respirologist Dr. Richard Tan for his compassionate care in the years since Ken’s diagnosis and to Dr. Blaggio (Bill) Pignanelli for decades of friendship and medical care.
For nineteen years, Ken has missed shooting the breeze with his son, Korey. They will now be reunited to talk shop, sip a brew and maybe cast a line or two for all of time and eternity.
