Reynald “Ray” Noel Chasse

Ray left this world in the early morning hours on Sunday, January 21st in his 87th year. He leaves his wife of 63 years to mourn Rita Chasse (nee Czop). Loving father of Charlene Chasse-Kretz (Edward “Ted” Kretz) and Todd Chasse (Lisa nee Siciliano). Grandfather of Robert Rochefort, Olivia Chasse and Cole Chasse and great-grandfather of Kodric Rochefort and Kamille Rochefort. Survived by his sisters Frances Demeester (Don) of Enoch, Utah, Clair Leblanc (Yvon) of Moncton, New Brunswick, Lucille (Lou) Matthews, brother Marcel Chasse (Rita) and sister-in-law Girlie Chasse as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Cecile and Horace Chasse, sisters Yolanda Garbari (Roy) and Gisele Rodrigue (Andy), brothers Claude Chasse and Camil Chasse (Donna) and brother-in-law Walt Matthews. Ray was a man of many talents. His enjoyment was music and was self-taught in playing the guitar, banjo, keyboard and dulcimer. He also played in a band for 15 years as lead guitar and vocalist. Ray was a gifted handyman around the house and had a true love for his family. Ray worked for Wabasso Cotton until he was employed at General Motors in St. Catharines for 28 years. Special thanks to the exceptional nursing staff and PSW’s from the 400 House at Rapelje Lodge. The family will receive their friends at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a service to celebrate Ray’s life in the Cudney Chapel at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated by the family to Beyond the Streets, Welland, The Hope Centre, or Charity of Choice.
