In Loving Memory of Barry James Jones.
August 21, 1932 – December 2, 2023
Barry passed away suddenly and peacefully at 10:05am on December 2nd at the age of 91, with family at his side. Loving husband of Marcia Elizabeth (née Jayes) Tughan for over 30 years and still good friends to this day. Loving father of Bret (Sylvie) and Mark (Gary) and loving grandad of Conor and Tyler. Barry / Dad / Grandad / Uncle B will be dearly missed by his family, including his sister Carol Rapelje in Welland and his nieces, nephews and their significant others in Welland, Scarborough, Courtice and Zionsville, Indiana. He was pre-deceased by his father Ernest A. Jones and his mother Edith E. Jones (neé Budd).
Dear friends from near and far will miss Barry’s bright smile and never-ending kind words and charm. Dad was a quick friend to many and one of the kindest and memorable men that you would ever meet. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. Always well put together and a true gentleman, Barry touched many that knew him for a moment, or a lifetime.
Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario where he worked with his Mom and Dad by his side in their family business, he moved on to Cornwall, then Ottawa, Welland and Toronto, where he spent many happy years at St. Joseph’s Senior’s Apartments in Leslieville. He transitioned happily into retirement care at 90, first at The Chartwell Colonial in Whitby and then his beloved Grand Canal Retirement Residence on the Welland Canal. Dad was so very happy there and surrounded by such a loving Team of friends and neighbours. Plus, pizza from The Rex right across the street.
Barry’s home was always filled with music, kind words and laughter along with momentos of his long, happy and memorable journey around him.
Barry’s final resting place will be at Niagara Lake Shore Cemetery, a town he truly loved. There will be a private Celebration of Life with his family.
You will be missed Barry. Farewell!
