Obituary of Lorne Joseph Biesel
Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Monday, December 4, 2023 in his 90th year.
Survived by his loving wife of 65 years Nancy (Schnarr). Cherished father of Susan Raymond (Paul) and Cathy Butcher (Tim). Proud grandfather to Max McTaggart (Romana), Kate and John (Rowan) Raymond, Rob (Laura), Joanna (Mike), James (Ruby) and Chris (Alex) Butcher. Also survived by six great-grandchildren. Brother-in-law to Myrta Biesel, Millie Bissett, Joyce Schneider, Ron (Pat) and Tom (Barb) Schnarr, and Karen (Gary) Felhaber. Survived by many nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Baden, Ontario, he was the last surviving child of John and Pearl (Kaufman) Biesel. Predeceased by siblings Ruth Naumann, Clarence, Earl and Glenn Biesel, Marjorie Luckhart and Dorene Kocher.
After graduating from KCI (1952) he enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the shoe industry. He was Credit Manager for many of the major Canadian shoe manufacturers in Kitchener, being Woelfe Shoes Co., Greb Shoes and Bonnie Stuart Shoes from which he retired in 1995. Faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Waterloo. Retirement brought many happy years of being a winter Snowbird; first in Florida and then South Padre Island, Texas where he and Nancy made many lasting friendships. As a couple they also enjoyed cruising and road trips over the years throughout various Canadian provinces and the United States. He enjoyed sports throughout his life, both watching and playing; mainly baseball, hockey and tennis. In later years he attended hundreds of his grandchildren’s sporting events where he loudly cheered them on.

Visitation will be held at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, December 18th from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 78 John St. W., Waterloo on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Interment in Fairmount Cemetery, Baden following the reception.
Memorial donations may be made to Grand River Hospital- Renal Clinic or Redeemer Lutheran Church and can be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com.
