At age 70, Cathy passed peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Sunday, December 15, 2024, after facing long and courageous health challenges.
Beloved wife of John Hutchison, just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. Cherished mother to Kimberly (Greg) and Cameron (Fiona), and devoted grandmother to Isabel and Lynsie. Cathy adored her younger sister, Lynn, and treasured time spent with her loving family and friends.
Born and raised in Waterloo, Cathy was active in sports, including Granite Club badminton and WCI cheerleading. She attended Ontario Ladies College (now Trafalgar Castle) before graduating from the Sir George Brown / St. Michael’s Hospital RN program. Cathy dedicated over 40 years as a med/surg nurse at K-W Hospital (now Grand River Hospital) and later in Milton, where family life took her.
Summers spent in Port Elgin, Lake Rosseau, and Waterloo, and winters in Naples, Florida, brought Cathy immense joy. An avid animal lover, she shared her life with many furry friends over the years. Known for her impeccable style, kind heart, and vibrant spirit, Cathy surrounded herself with lifelong friends and family who cherished her warmth, compassion, and inspiring presence.
The family is eternally grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Grand River Hospital for their extraordinary compassion, care, and emotional support during Cathy’s final days. Their kindness helped us navigate this difficult time with comfort and grace.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Cathy with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 11:00-11:45 a.m. followed by a service in the chapel at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Peter Kuhnert officiating. A reception with refreshments will take place immediately following the service.
