At Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington on Saturday, November 23, 2024 Shirley Kent (nee Carey) passed away in her 86th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband William Edward “Ted” Kent in 2015. Loved mother of Darlene (Colin) Kent of Harrison Hot Springs, B.C., David (Paulette) Kent of Burlington and Darrell Kent of Valens. Proud grandmother of Samantha (Ryan) Foot of Maple Ridge, B.C., and Jenelle Kent (Ryan) of Langley, B.C., Dorian, Laughlin (predeceased) and Shane Kent of Burlington. Great-Grandmother of Josephine Foot of Maple Ridge, B.C. Predeceased by her brother George and Murray Carey; and her sister-in-law Marlene Cassidy. Survived by her sister-in-law Diane, brother-in-law John Cassidy and former daughter-in-law Cathy.
Shirley was a bookkeeper with Frank Tool & Die as well as Millgrove Packers. She was a proud resident of Waterdown and volunteered with Waterdown Cemetery Board as well as Alexander Place Long Term Care. An avid and accomplished 5 pin bowler (with many 300 plus games), Knitter and Crafter.
Friends may join the family at WATERDOWN CEMETERY for the urn interment on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 starting at 12 noon followed with a Celebration of Shirley’s Life at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown from 1 – 3 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Please sign the Tribute Wall.
