Roberta “Bobbie” Lynn Modesto Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roberta Lynn Modesto, affectionately known as Bobbie. Born on November 18th, 1963, Bobbie passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital on August 8th, 2024, surrounded by her close family.
Bobbie was a beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend. She was the cherished wife of nearly 39 years to Jim Modesto, and a devoted mother to Amanda (Jeff) and Jimmy Modesto (Rebecca). She was a sweet nana to Logan, Carter, and James. Bobbie was a dear sister to David (Sandy), Hilary (Don), Ian (Penny), Richard (Edith), and Carol. Bobbie is remembered by her brother-in-law, Terry Modesto (Lynn) and sister-in-law, Debbie Sheepway (Steve). Bobbie was a loving and treasured Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her father, Ronald George Deeks, mother, Josephine Ivy Deeks, and sisters, Josephine Deeks, Angela (Harvey) Smith, and her father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Leona Modesto.
Bobbie dedicated 17 years of her career as a senior individual services agent at the Canada Revenue Agency, proudly serving Canadians. Bobbie had a passion for gardening, was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and loved music, home décor, and pottery. Family was the driving force in her life, and she was the heart of her extended family. She cherished her lifelong friends from her school days in Oakville and the friends she and Jim shared throughout their four decades together.
Bobbie was known for her unwavering kindness, always lending a hand to those in need or offering a listening ear and a hug. She had a gentle heart and was a role model wife and mother, creating a beautiful home where loved ones gathered for many cherished memories. Bobbie was a mother figure to many.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 7-9 p.m. at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown, where a Celebration of Bobbie’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 1 – 4 p.m., with words of remembrance at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Bobbie wished for donations to be made to the McMaster Ron Joyce Autism Program in recognition of her love and pride watching her son Jimmy and daughter-in-law Rebecca advocate for her grandson James. Please specify under “other”.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of the Oncology Clinic and Palliative Care Unit of Joseph Brant Hospital for their compassionate care and support. Special thanks to Bobbie’s nieces Jayna and Lindsay, and her sister Carol for their loving care throughout.
Bobbie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
