On Thursday, November 9, 2023, Margaret passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant
Hospital at 95 years of age.
Born in Perth, Scotland on October 5, 1928, she was predeceased by her husband Adriaan. She is survived by her children, Sheila (Janet), Eric (Kelly), brother Gordon (Mieke), grandchildren Jody (Alan), Christy, great-grandson Tristan and granddogs, Briar and Porter.
Margaret worked for Bell Canada before getting married and always enjoyed reminiscing about her time at the Bell. She was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church and the “Y” (YMCA), where she enjoyed swimming and fitness classes. A hockey expert on the Toronto Maple Leafs, Margaret had any Leafs information readily available. She was knowledgeable on many subjects, loved to socialize, and was an incredible storyteller. Margaret lived independently and on her own terms to the end, and has been described as a force to be reckoned with. She truly exemplified living a full and healthy life.
Her family will always remember her for her kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity; she would part with her last dollar to help others. She was always so proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, and will be greatly missed.
As per Margaret’s wishes, a private family interment will take place at a later date at the Kemptville cemetery.
