Mac Vanderhout Obituary
Peacefully at Shalom Manor in Grimsby, Ontario, the Lord called Mac home. He leaves his wife, Frances, his children Dwayne (Linda), Desiree (Antony) Zimbalatti, grandchildren Jane (Josh), Leah (Chandler) and Shelley as well as great grandchildren Luke, Brooke, Quinn, Jubilee and Sunday, and stepchildren Annette (Steve) van der Woerd, Jamie (Syd) Buisman, JP (Catelyn) Hoekstra, Nick (Lisa) Hoekstra and their families.
Will be missed by brothers Maart, Wim and Andy, brother-in-law Frank and sisters-in-law Coby, Diny, Bep and Dana. Predeceased by siblings and in-laws Klaas (Tine), John (Margaret), Adrie, Tony, Susan (Jaap), Leen, Pauline, Betty and two infant siblings. Mac was also predeceased by his first wife Ann in 2001.
Mac will be missed by his friends and many nieces and nephews in Canada and in the Netherlands.
Mac was born in ‘s-Gravenzande, The Netherlands and lived there until 1950 when he immigrated to Canada. He started out as a young farm hand, he was a labourer at Stelco and Westinghouse and he drove moving trucks across Canada. The next step was to sell insurance and open his own general insurance agency in Hamilton in 1955. Mac loved the social aspect of his career and worked happily until his retirement. His spare time was filled with good food, following the news, travel, church and family. His happy place was on the road behind the wheel of a shiny new car.

Visitation on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown, where the Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. Private Family Interment at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery, Ancaster will precede the service.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Shalom Manor, 12 Bartlett Ave Grimsby, ON L3M 4N5.
