Lillian Frances Moore (nee Place) Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Lil Moore, after a brief illness and short stay, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
As in life, Lil was surrounded in her final days by her loving family. Left to mourn her is her devoted husband, Ron Moore. He and “Susie”, as he affectionately called her, were married for 62 yrs. and raised their family in the town of Westover. She was the beloved “Mum” to Cindy (Howard) Bates and Sherry (David) MacDonald. She was the doting “Nana” to her granddaughters, Holly and Shannon MacDonald. She is survived by her sisters, Nancy (Bill) Baillie, Karen (David) Hilder, Kathy (Jim) Munday and Debbie (Wilf) Vansickle, as well as her brothers, Kim Place and Mark (Wendy) Place. She is also fondly remembered by Anna Place and the “Moore Family”. She is predeceased by her sister, Mary (Dave†) Clark and her brother, Bill (Liz†) Place. Sharing in their sadness are her nieces and nephews and her friends and neighbors in the Westover community. Lil was a longtime member of the Westover Women’s Institute and, in her early years, played baseball for the “Westover Ladies”. Lil was never one to sit idle. Her energy was infectious and was evident to all that knew and loved her. She was well known for her baking and canning prowess and was famous for her pickles (“Lil’s Dill’s”).
Visitation will be held at KITCHING, STEEPE AND LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown, ON, on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the Memorial Service at 10:15 a.m. (Livestream is available through a link below). A procession to and graveside interment will take place at the Westover United Cemetery at the conclusion of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Westover Women’s Institute” or the “Westover Baptist Church”, in Lil’s name. All are invited to the Westover Hall for a reception and an opportunity to reminisce on “a life well lived.” Please sign the Tribute Wall.
