Lawrence “Larry” Hastings Obituary
Former longtime resident of Carlisle and Waterdown ON, passed away Tuesday February 13, 2024 surrounded by his family after a short stay at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie ON.
Lawrence was born in April 1937, first son to Isabel (Botham) and Edison Hastings, in Tecumseh Twp., ON. He met and married his wife of 59 years Marilynn (Honey), in October 1964. He worked and retired from Kaiser Refractories (National Refractories), as their controller and devoted himself into volunteer work.
He was a faithful man, with a servant’s heart. Where there was a need, he was always willing. He was an avid reader, always ready to take the next trip; he loved sports and great conversation. He was a wonderful listener and truly interested in your story. He always put everyone else first.
He lived his life well and we will miss him. We are blessed by his 86 years but know he is greeted with hugs and handshakes in Heaven.
Wonderful Dad to his kids: Jeff & Nancy Hastings, Barrie ON, and Lynn & John Linville, Fremont NH.
Amazing Pop to his grandkids: Eve, Luke, Wyatt, Sarah and Rachel.
Brother to: the late Glenn & Joan Hastings, Eileen & the late Raymond McCabe, Herb & Lynda Hastings.
Uncle and great Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Friend to all! “Well done good and faithful servant.”(Matt. 25:23)
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday March 2, 2024 at 11am at Compass Point Bible Church, 1500 Kerns Rd., Burlington, followed by visitation and refreshments from noon to 2pm.
