Laura “Louise” Webb Obituary
Louise passed peacefully Monday, October 14, 2024, in her 97th year. She was all about family and friends, of which there were many. Louise was predeceased by her husband Tom, (1998). Loving Mother to Janice (Chris) Rapson and Bill (Carrie) Webb. Proud Grandmother to Karen (Derek) Carpenter, Candice (Jonathan) Johnson, Kristen Rapson (Matt Paton) and Brad (Nicole) Webb. Her Great Grandchildren always made her smile. Colby and Joe Carpenter, Knox, Charleigh and Georgia Johnson, Tyler and Dylan Paton, Mia and Isla Webb. Predeceased by her sisters and brother-in-laws Helen (Jack) Stapleton and Jean (Gus) Ambrose.
After high school Louise worked at Bell Telephone in Hamilton as an operator. She always said every nickel she made went on her back. She loved her clothes!
Married in 1951 she and Tom started a family in 1954. Louise was a stay at home Mom by day and in the evening did bookwork for Tom’s grocery store, Webb’s Better Foods. It was during these years Louise learned to play bridge, a game she loved all of her life. Later in life she added poker and board games to her fun activities, having no problem staying out until 1 or 2 in the morning with her friends. Louise also loved to sew, knit, embroider and do jigsaw puzzles. After selling the grocery store Louise and Tom bought their dream cottage on Six Mile Lake. There they loved spending time with family and friends. Louise was a member of the Burlington Women’s Probus group where eventually she held the role of President. She regretted having to leave Probus when her hearing loss made meetings too difficult.
A heartfelt special thanks to Rose, her wonderful caregiver. Louise was adamant; she was not going into a home! Rose made it possible for her to stay at home until recently being hospitalized with colitis. The family would like to thank Dr. Steven Hadcock and the Joseph Brant Hospital staff on 5 North.
Louise preferred there be no service or visitation so we will honour her request. Immediate family will gather for her interment at the Eden Mills Cemetery followed by a big family dinner in her honour.
In memory of Louise please take a friend to Timmie’s for a coffee and an old fashioned glazed.
