Lajos Nemeth Obituary
Lajos, aged 80, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024, at Credit Valley Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Ilona (nee Barta) for over 54 years and a proud father to Leslie (Sarah) and Andrea (David). Lajos cherished his role as a grandfather to Bianca, Isla, and Elliot. Dear brother of Anna.
A skilled Electrician, Lajos bravely moved his family from Hungary to Canada to provide them with a better life. He worked hard, balancing his job with night school to learn English, while also pursuing entrepreneurial ventures. Despite his dedication to work, Lajos always prioritized family, creating lasting memories through road trips and travels, including special trips to Hungary and a memorable journey to Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji with Ilona.
Lajos was passionate about cycling, a pursuit that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. He participated in numerous charitable rides alongside his son, using their shared love for the sport to support various causes close to their hearts. These rides not only allowed them to bond over their mutual interest but also provided an opportunity to give back to the community, showcasing Lajos’s generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
Lajos will be deeply missed by his family, who will carry his love and spirit in their hearts forever. His unwavering dedication and warmth have left an indelible mark on their lives, and they will cherish the memories they created together.
The family extends their gratitude to the nurses and doctors at the Palliative Care unit for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m., at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown, where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.
