Herbert Angus Lawson Obituary
With great sadness we announce the passing of Herbert Angus Lawson. Herb was born in New Waterford, NS, moving to Ontario in 1949.
As a young man Herb was hospitalized after a mill accident, and met a nurse named Carrie who became the love of his life. They purchased Lawson Park in 1968, growing the campground into a successful business – and home for generations of Lawsons. Herb had a keen sense of what was important in life, working hard but reminding others not to work ‘too hard’! He enjoyed golf into his 80s, and spent winters in Florida for years. Herb was a member of Grace Anglican Church, and lifelong Optimist member. He was generous, devoted to family, and an amazing storyteller.
Predeceased by wife, Carrie (Ursulak) Lawson; parents Herbert & Isabelle (McLeod) Lawson; and sisters Ivy (Albert) Lewis, Dorothy (Stewart) Phillips, Mary Dolena (Fraser) Matthews; brothers, Donald (Dorothy) and Greg. Survived by sisters Florence (Barry) Morgan, Joan Cino of Ancaster; brother Edward (Hildegarde); children Susan, and Glenn Lawson; grandchildren Noelle Lawson, Sarah (Di) Lawson-Canning; great-grandchildren Juniper & Tilly Lawson-Canning. His family, and close friends Rene & Lillian Poulin, & Gord Vacon, were with him in his final days.
Celebration of Life to be held at Kitching, Steepe & Ludwig Funeral Home, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown on June 20, 2024 from 12- 3pm; eulogies at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hamilton CAP.
