Grietje “Grace” Jansje Nyburg Obituary
Peacefully, on February 19, 2024, the Lord called Grace home at the age of 84 years. Beloved wife of the late Gerrit (2020) for 57 years. Loved Mother of the late Henk, the late Johan (Anne-Marie), Annelies (Rob) VanderKamp, Theo (Stacey), and Annita (Frank). Dear Oma of Jolene, Joshua, Erica, Sierra, Charlotte, Oliver, Alyssa, Laura, Cameron and Caleb, who have fond memories of time spent on the farm, eating “Haagelslaag” sandwiches and “poffertjes” and playing games. There were many camping trips, cottage vacations and even a few cruises that won’t be forgotten. Loved sister and sister-in-law of †Jan (Martje), Bert (†Inge), †Eltjo (Annie), Hans (Grietje), †Eli, Gini (Ben), Fritz (Gerry), †Garmt, †Ellie (†Herman), and †Willem (Roelie).
Mom was a very strong yet incredibly graceful woman of many talents making our lives more colourful with her incredible gardens, beautiful paintings and creative crafts. Mom was an integral part of establishing and managing the Dundas Missions Thrift Store. Mom gave her love for thrifting to many of us in the family. We recall with delight mom’s ability to find a bargain and stretch her Shopper’s Optimum points to the max. Mom had an adventurous spirit which led her and dad on many trips including camping, cruising and visiting Holland numerous times.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, February 23, 2024 at CALVIN CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 420 Hwy. 5, Dundas, from 10 a.m. up until the time of the service beginning at 11 am. Burial to follow the Service at Mt. Zion Cemetery and after the Interment, everyone will be invited back to the church for a reception.
