Gordon Francis Smith Obituary
Peacefully passed away with his family by his side at the age of 75, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton. Loving husband of Theresa (nee DeSalvo) for over 49 years. Cherished father and grandfather of Daniel and Salina Smith; and their children Sophia and D.J, and Stephanie and Ryan Newell; and their children Violet and Carter. Predeceased by his parents Howard and Juanita Smith, his father-in-law Gino DeSalvo, and survived by his mother-in-law Gina DeSalvo. He will be remembered by his six siblings.
Gord was a long-time mechanic and teacher at Cathedral High School in Hamilton. He was a social butterfly who loved to golf and enjoyed a good party. Gord found joy in spending time with his grandchildren who he adored and spoiled. His warmth, humor and love will forever be remembered in the hearts of his family and friends. The family is deeply grateful to the staff of the Step-Down unit and ICU at St. Joseph’s Hospital and thankful for their compassionate care.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. If desired, a donation in memory of Gord to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
