Cathy Boocock Obituary
Catherine “Cathy” Elizabeth Boocock (nee Leslie)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Cathy after a brave 3.5-year battle with cancer. Despite the challenges of her illness, Cathy faced each day with remarkable courage and grace. Her strength was an inspiration to everyone who knew her as she continued to find joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Cathy was a loving wife to Jay for 24 years, a wonderful mother to their three children, Julianna, Matthew, and Morgan, a sister to Kim (March Falletta) and Bill, and a deeply devoted daughter to Bill and the late Sandra Leslie.
She was adored by many family members and friends, especially her cousins Rebecca and Elizabeth, as well as her best friends, Debbie, D’Arcy, Linda, Kimi, and the rest of the Millgrove Moms. She enjoyed being an aunt to Joey (Katie), Nicky, Destiny, Riley, Charlea and Jase, and she had the recent pleasure of being a great aunt to Luca. Cathy was also adored by her furry four-legged friends. These loyal and cherished companions brought her great comfort and joy, and they will miss her dearly.
Although Cathy was quiet and unassuming, she loved to laugh and to make others laugh. She was incredibly witty and bust-a-gut funny, a master of sharp one-liners and no-words-needed facial expressions.
Cathy will be remembered for her enthusiasm for life’s delights. From travel to sweet treats, she found joy in so many things. Her love for New York City was truly unmatched. No matter how many times she visited the Big Apple, she always found new places to photograph and experience. Cathy was a devoted fan of LIVE with Regis and Kelly, following the show through its transitions to Kelly and Michael, Kelly and Ryan, and finally Kelly and Mark. She rarely missed an opportunity to attend a live taping and enjoyed every moment. Cathy savoured all things mushroom; she celebrated birthdays and special occasions with great zeal; she loved going to the movies with her friends, munching on popcorn and sipping Coca-Cola; and she was always up for a board game, a meal at a new restaurant, an afternoon of sledding.
Cathy was a skilled photographer, a talented scrapbook creator, and greeting card maker. She had an extraordinary gift for always capturing special moments: a family portrait at Christmas, a child unwrapping a birthday gift, a first taste of a new food, a joyful jump in a pool, a baby’s cake-covered face. She always went above and beyond to create the most beautifully crafted cards and scrapbooks that were expressions of her love. Her scrapbooks are more than just collections of photos; they are cherished keepsakes full of life’s beautiful moments.
Cathy’s greatest accomplishment was the family she created with Jay. From the moment they were born, Julianna, Matthew, and Morgan were her sun, moon, and stars—her purest joy. Cathy put her whole self into providing them with a nurturing and supportive home and a life filled with fun, adventure, and cherished moments. She took immense pride in supporting their individual interests and educational journeys from preschool to high school and beyond. Cathy was deeply invested in her children’s education, celebrating their achievements and encouraging their growth with unwavering dedication. Her efforts are reflected in the bright, hard-working, and caring adults they have become.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the exceptional medical team at Princess Margaret Hospital for their compassionate care and dedication throughout Cathy’s illness. Dr. Butler and his oncology team provided an unwavering commitment to Cathy, and their support and expertise were deeply appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cathy’s honour to Princess Margaret Hospital.
While we mourn the loss of Cathy, we find comfort in the memories she captured and shared and the positive impact she had on our lives and everyone else she met.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honour Cathy’s memory. Further information and details will be provided at a later date. The family invites you to join them in celebrating her remarkable life.
