McLACHLAN, Brian William Kerr
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Brian McLachlan on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024 at the age of 83. Loving father to Blair McLachlan and Bonnie Bellsmith (Richard) and longtime friend, and former husband of Barbara McLachlan. Beloved grandfather of Breeona, Joshua, and Connor Bellsmith. Cherished Uncle to Lee (Ruthanne) Paterson, Michelle (Viery) Paterson and Neill (Sherry) Paterson. Great Uncle to Kailee (Tyler) and Alison (Connor) Paterson, Gavin Scarpelli, Emma, Drew and Dillon Paterson. Great-great Uncle to Casey and Kinsley Madill. Predeceased by Father James (Jimmy) and Mother Jenny McLachlan as well as Sister Marilyn Paterson. Brian will be sadly missed by dearest friend Ian Wilson, cherished friends and family in the UK and every one of UB’s Fishing Crew.
Brian was an avid fisherman who spent most of his waking hours either planning the next fishing trip, constructing flies with which to catch the next big fish or reading from an entire library of fishing books and magazines. During times when he wasn’t fishing, he was enjoying the company of friends or family over a cold beer or nice glass of scotch. Brian enjoyed playing the guitar or building waterfalls and ponds in the backyard – a task which his career as Draftsman left him amply prepared.
Friends and relatives are invited to a Celebration of Brian’s Life on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown. From 2:00pm – 3:30p.m., we welcome anyone who would like to drop in and pass along condolences to the family. At 3:30 p.m. a short ceremony will be held including eulogies, singing, traditional music and refreshments. Seating will be provided and all are welcome to stay to share stories and memories of Brian until 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Alzheimer Society in memory of Brian would be appreciated by the family.
