With a heavy heart, Tina announces the passing of her loving mom, Jean Christina Meyer, on Thursday, October 31, 2024, in her 87th year. Jean was predeceased by her husband Alvin (Chum) in 2007. Survived by her sisters-in-law Dorothy and Donna Petteplace, brother-in-law Robert (Janet) Meyer, sister-in-law of Murray Govier, and many nieces and nephews.
Jean loved coffee dates with her daughter Tina, Tim Horton’s friends, or family. Bless the late Dave Opperman for making “Jean’s Café” beside the Formosa Post Office. She thoroughly enjoyed making her daily visit as part of her routine. Jean always had time for crocheting, puzzles, word searches, or visits from her girls, while enjoying plain potato chips and an orange Crush pop – her favourite snacks. You could find her sitting on her front porch and always had a big wave, smile, and a hello for those passing by. Precious was her fur grand baby which she enjoyed immensely.
Predeceased by her parents Herbert and Loretta (nee Willie) Petteplace, brothers Kenneth, Clayton (Ding), Douglas, Gordon (Betty Jean), sisters Beverley (Gerald) Martin, Gladys, Donna, extended Meyer family; Victor, Lorne, Lloyd, Elmer, Howard, Bertha, Antoinette, Johnanna and Marlene.
Friends and relatives are invited to memorial visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Cameron’s in Walkerton. Fr. Leszek Szczygiel officiating. Interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Formosa, followed by reception at the Formosa Community Centre.
