Irene Charmaine Kieffer (nee Walters) of Mildmay passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, November 25th, 2023, at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre – Toronto General Hospital in her 80th year. Beloved wife of Lorne Kieffer for 53 years. Loving and devoted mother to Joe (Michelle) Kieffer of Woodstock, Kelly (Chris) Schaus of Mildmay and Darren Kieffer of Woodstock. Irene was also a proud grandmother to Jared (Jordan Scholten) Schaus, Carter (Michaela Babcock) Schaus, Kiefer Schaus and Mia (Dylan Ropp) Crispin-Kieffer. Step grandmother to Summer Mcphee-Merwin, Randi Rimmer and Shelbi Rimmer. She will be missed by her siblings Ross (Linda) Walters of Hanover, Shirley (Doug) Schwehr of Durham, the extended Kieffer family and many nieces and nephews.
Irene is predeceased by two sisters Lillian (Tony) Delucchi, Eleanor (Stan) Ditner and her parents Murray and Dorothy (nee Voisin) Walters.
Irene was always an active member of her community, serving on many committees and involved in many clubs. She will be dearly missed by her many friends and neighbors, her card playing crew and some special four-legged friends that always knew she had treats nearby.
Friends and relatives are invited for memorial visitation from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Thursday November 30th, 2023, at Cameron’s in Walkerton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday December 1St 2023, at Sacred Heart Church Mildmay, Fr Leszek Szczygiel officiating. Reception to follow.
