We are sad to announce the passing of Hilda Emma Russwurm of Walkerton on Monday, January 1, 2024, in her 93rd year (born June 25, 1931, in Normanby Township), though we are happy for her long life with us on earth and now eternal life with Jesus. Hilda was the beloved mother of Dennis (Sharon) of Walkerton, Bonita (Jeff) Bell of Stratford, and Pauline Stanga of Saskatoon, SK. Proud grandmother of Sharilyn (Brian), Katie, Kenton, Abbey (Emad), Ian (Rebecca), Michael (Chae), and Samantha (Chris). Adoring great grandmother of Noelle, Ryan, Matthew, and Wesley. Hilda will be missed by her sisters Marion Russell of Listowel and Dolores (Ian) McCannell of Walkerton, special friend Tanya (Jon) Small, as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Lincoln Russwurm, a son in infancy, siblings Valera (Vernon) Dickert, Carl (Ruth) Yenssen, Rita (Tom) Donaldson, brother-in-law Elmer Russell, and parents Norman and Lillian Yenssen.
Hilda worked her first full time job at the veterinary clinic in Mildmay where she met her husband, and they were married soon after. Together they enjoyed a long and prosperous life of farming on Concession 10 until they retired. Hilda lived at Maple Court Retirement Residence for the past 6 years where she was busy doing puzzles, playing cards, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and enjoying her retirement.
We would like to thank the staff at Maple Court Retirement Residence and more recently, Brucelea Haven for their exceptional care of Hilda.
Friends and relatives are invited for visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Cameron’s in Walkerton. Pastor Pam McNeil officiating. Reception to follow.
Interment in Walkerton Cemetery.
