“Every farmer puts his land to rest in the winter, on spring horizon, it is brought back to life. God has put his farmer to rest.”
Gordon William Borth – “Gordie Borth from the fourth”, passed peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2024, in his 81st year at London Health Sciences Centre with his family by his side, reminiscing and reflecting on a life well lived.
Gord will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Fran (nee Doerr). He raised three children, Connie (Chum) McAskill, Jeff (Lesley), and Jason (Sarah). He was exceptionally proud of all his grandchildren, Hannah (Derek), Michael (Camille), Caitlyn (Jesse), Matt, Mitch (Sierra), Jenna (Jason), Jordan (Brooke), Jessica (David), Austin, Nicole, and Emily. Gord was honoured to become a great grandpa to Ava, Octavia, and Keira. He will be missed by his siblings, Emma, Ada, Lorraine, Reuben (Lorraine), Rita (George), Marlene, Billy (Erin), and many nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law to Betty Borth, Robert (Barb) Doerr, and Joan Schefter.
Gord farmed the land and ran a successful dairy operation, retired early but still enjoyed country life – “never to move to town”. He loved to watch the birds, restore his beloved antique tractors, and daily tours around the fourth of Carrick.
Predeceased by and waiting to take his hand, grandson Matthew Borth, his parents Eleanora and William, siblings Eileen (Jack) Fell, Norman, Ethel (Bud) Fritz, Wilfred, brothers-in-law Sonny Geisel, Bill Hope, Merv Monk, Jack Fischer, Patricia (Raymond) Beitz, Doug Schefter, and mother-in-law Beatrice Schefter.
