Agnes (Fleming) Kuntz, formerly of Chepstow, passed away, lovingly surrounded by her family, on Saturday, November 4, 2023, in her 97th year at the South Bruce Health Centre in Walkerton.
Agnes was the caring mother of Patrick and Marlene Kuntz of Chepstow; John and Donna Kuntz of Hanover; Lenore Fluter of Regina, SK; Veronica and Bruce Davidson of Walkerton and Martha and David Robertson of Pinkerton. Cherished grandmother of 20 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Dear sister-in-law to Martina (Kuntz) Gutcher of Walkerton, Hilda (Weiler) Kuntz of Waterloo and Eugene Kuntz of Walkerton.
Predeceased by her loving husband, Lawrence (Lorne) Kuntz of Chepstow; her grandchildren, Lindsay Fluter and Lars Kuntz; parents, Patrick and Mary (McIntyre) Fleming; siblings, Reverend Father James (Hugh) Fleming, Sister Margaret, Patricia Berdenski and brother-in-law, Walter Berdenski, Sister Ethelreda (Veronica), Thomas, Sister Angela, Patrick (Gregory) and sister-in-law Eugenie (Jean) Fleming.
In addition to the fulfilling family and farming partnership she shared with Lorne, Agnes was also a dedicated elementary school teacher whose career began at the age of 17 in West Williams Township. Following this, she then taught in various one room schoolhouses in Bruce County, including near Teeswater, Greenock, the Elora Road School, Mildmay and Walkerton. After a brief break for her own childrearing, Agnes resumed her teaching profession in Chepstow, where she remained for the rest of her career, inspiring generations of youth. Agnes was an active member of the Chepstow Catholic Women’s League and the Belles of St. Mary. She was also an instructor with the Christopher Leadership Course Program in Walkerton. Agnes could also be seen frequently playing cards with friends, playing Scrabble with family members, attending antique, craft, art shows, and her many travels with Lorne.
Agnes will be sadly missed by her community, her many nieces and nephews, and especially by the three living generations of her own family. Her keen creative talents, her unconditional love and the nurturing support she showered on each of us will certainly serve as a lasting legacy that we will always treasure.
Friends and relatives are invited for visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Cameron’s in Walkerton. CWL prayers will be held at 1:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Mary Immaculate Church, Chepstow. Reception to follow.
Interment in Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Chepstow.
