After a very long and valiant fight, Terry is free of the pain and misery of his cancer battle. Just as he wished, he passed in his home, December 5th with his wife and best friend of 37 yrs Phyllis (Cronkright) Savoie at his side. An outpouring of love, laughter, storytelling and support helped Terry thru his final days. His sons were with him in his final days to comfort and love him. His medical support team were sensitive and respectful of his final wishes; especially Dr. Mustard, nurses Lisa and Alison, and the staff at Dellar’s; for this, the family will be forever grateful. Special hugs and thanks to Pieper and Brittney Yearwood, Terry’s children Gary, Lisa and Derrick for sitting a 24/7 vigil in his final days and keeping me laughing, fed and rested.
Terry is survived by his sons, Derrick, Gary (Lisa) and granddaughter Claire (Jake VanderHeide). His brothers Denis(Linda) and Michael (Anne) ; sisters Cathy, Rosemary ( Doug Oliver), brother-in-law Greg Cronkright (Ann), sister-in-law Pieper (Brian Yearwood) and Terry’s many nieces and nephews, who all adored ‘Uncle Buck’
Respecting Terry’s wishes, a private internment will take place at a later date; when he will be laid to rest with his parents Edith and Lefty Savoie and sister Roseanne.
Our wish is for Terry’s memory to live on in his family, many friends and buddies; and to honour him by following his examples of integrity and kindness, with an enormous sense of humor and stubbornness. Know that he left this earth reminding us daily that he went on his terms – queue Sinatra’s “My Way”.
